Privacy policy

This policy explains how Mick Burrows Electrical (ABN 80 472 744 130) handles personal information collected through this website. We aim to handle it in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

"We", "us" and "our" mean Mick Burrows Electrical. "You" means anyone using the website or contacting us through it.

When you send a quote or site-visit request, we collect:

• your name, phone number and suburb
• your email address, if you choose to give it
• the type of job, your preferred timing and your description of the work
• for EV charger enquiries, any optional details you add, such as your vehicle, property type and power supply
• photos you choose to upload, for example of your switchboard or the job area

Along with your enquiry we also record which page you first landed on, the website that referred you and any campaign tags in the link you followed. This helps us understand how people find us.

We don't ask for your street address through the website. If you give it to us later, for example to book work, we collect it then.

• to respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote
• to arrange site visits and carry out electrical work you ask for
• to send you a confirmation that we received your enquiry, and other emails about your job
• to keep business records about the work we quote and perform
• to understand how the website is used, so we can improve it (see section 6)

We don't add you to a mailing list, send promotional emails or sell your information. The email you receive after an enquiry is a one-off acknowledgement of that enquiry.

We use service providers to run the website. They process information on our behalf to:

• Host the website: pages are delivered through Lovable's hosting platform, which runs on Cloudflare's global network.
• Store enquiries and photos: enquiries and uploaded photos are stored in a private database and file store provided through Lovable Cloud (powered by Supabase). They are currently hosted in Tokyo, Japan.
• Send emails: enquiry notifications and confirmations are sent through Lovable's email service.
• Measure website use: Google Analytics (Google LLC), described in section 6.

This means your information may be stored or processed outside Australia, including in Japan and other countries where these providers operate. We choose established providers and only share what is needed for each service.

On mickburrowselectrical.com.au, we use Google Analytics 4 to count page visits and actions such as tapping the phone number, starting the quote form and submitting it. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser so it can tell repeat visits apart. Google receives technical information such as your device type, browser, approximate location and the pages you view.

We don't send your name, phone number, email address, job description or photos to Google Analytics.

The site also briefly stores a small note in your browser for the current visit. It records the page you arrived on and avoids counting the same enquiry twice. It's cleared when you close the tab.

The website doesn't have its own settings to switch analytics off. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The website will still work if you do.

Enquiries are not publicly accessible. They can only be viewed by Mick Burrows Electrical through a password-protected account. Uploaded photos are stored privately and opened only through short-lived secure links. The website uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and the form has spam and abuse protection.

No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.

We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to respond, quote, carry out and support the work, and to meet our business, tax and electrical record-keeping obligations. When we no longer need information, we take reasonable steps to delete it or remove identifying details.

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email enquiries@mickburrowselectrical.com.au or call 0419 276 086. We may need to confirm who you are first. If we have to keep some records by law, we'll tell you.

If you have a concern about how we've handled your information, please contact us first at enquiries@mickburrowselectrical.com.au and we'll respond as soon as we reasonably can. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
